Could It Be Forever? My Story

Author: David Cassidy

Summary: The life story of the late and great singer David Cassidy from his Partridge Family Days until recent times. Remember: David wrote this book 10 years before he died.

Personal thoughts: It's a very open and candid story of a singer and actor who battled depression and alcoholism and became a proud parent of 2 children. Since he's VERY open about his wild moments, it's truly not for the prudish.

Rating on a scale of 1 to 10: 10 of course!

The Story of My Life

Author: Helen Keller

Summary: Helen Keller's life story including reports by her teacher Anne Sullivan and copies of Helen's real letters she wrote to her friends.

Personal thoughts: When I was a little girl, I was fascinated with a story about Helen Keller who became blind and deaf as a toddler. Despite her disabilities, she managed to learn what words and sentences meant, how to read, and eventually how to speak. She made many friends in her life and was even able to go to college and become a famous writer and speaker. So it goes to show that ALL people with disabilities can learn and be able to accomplish many  things!

James and the Giant Peach

Author: Roald Dahl

Summary: A neglected boy crawls through a tunnel into a giant peach that grew in his backyard and befriends some insects whom he travels in the peach with across the ocean.

Personal thoughts: I felt sorry for James that he had to be raised by very abusive aunts and yet I admired his courage to befriend some insects and take a risky trip into a huge fruit with them. We all know that you can't truly take a trip with bugs in a fruit, but it's a very cute and funny story with a very funny ending, which if I said, would spoil everything.

Isles of View

Author: C.F. Brunner

Summary: A hearing woman named Cara marries a deaf man named Dan and describes the good times and just how difficult being married to him can be.

Personal thoughts: I thought Dan was very abusive to Cara. Even though he never physically abused her, he'd yell at her and call her names for no proper reason. While reading this book I was wishing that Cara would just get a divorce from Dan. Since verbal abuse can be just as bad as physical, that's why I thought Cara was pretty stupid to stay with him. If I were Cara, I wouldn't put up with Dan yelling at me and calling me names. It would be over.

Jurassic Park

Author: Michael Crichton

Summary: A tour through an attraction called Jurassic Park for some scientists and two children proves disastrous when the power unexpectedly goes out.

Personal thoughts: As much as I love dinosaurs, I very much doubt I'd want to have any encounters with them like all the characters had in the book. It's a read that I found not very easy to put down. :)
